Chapter 5

ALL PERIODS:

Copy the questions on a piece of folder paper. Read chapter 5, and take notes on each question. Be prepared with a response for Wednesday’s Fishbowl Discussion.

If you are ODD, do the ODD numbered questions.
If you are EVEN, do the EVEN numbered questions.

  1. Where have you heard Custer before?
  2. List all the examples of epithet that you can find in the chapter on a poster paper. For example, “half-breed Indian” –> “half-breed” describes “Indian” (44). It is a descriptive name that describes a thing or person. Make sure to cite all of them.
  3. What does Zits mean when he says “Hell is Red River, Idaho, in 1975”? (47)
  4. Why are the two Indian guys talking to the white FBI?
  5. On page 50, why does Zits (in Hank’s body) say, “In my head, I scream, Tell Them, Junior, tell them everything!” (50). Why does he want Junior to tell them?
  6. On page 51, why do you think it was so easy for Art to kill Junior?
  7. What does Elk mean when he says, “‘He’s a traditionalist”? (52)
  8. How do you think Zits (in Hank’s body) feels at the end of the chapter? What would you do? Why?
